One Week Until Medicare Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment begins on October 15.  Are you new to Medicare?  Or do you have questions regarding changes to the program?  Below are links to several articles with helpful information.

The first place to start might be medicare.gov

Medicare.gov blog - Open Enrollment is Coming Soon

Here are several on-line resources we found:

Washington Post - If you find Medicare sign up rules confusing, read this

Forbes - Medicare open enrollment how to shop smart

New York Times - Beware of shifting options within Medicare plans

Finally, you can get a personalized plan comparison from mymedicare.gov

Mymedicare.gov - Medicare plan finder

If you read the articles and you used the on line tools but find you still have questions, don’t worry, help is available.  In Virginia, you can contact your local Virginia Insurance Counseling Assistance Program (VICAP).  Volunteers and staff members are trained to assist older Virginians with Medicare and other types of insurance questions.  Call 1-800-552-3402, to find the Area Agency on Aging closest to you.
